Betase takes a thorough, critical look at technical documentation with the aim of improving the text, both in terms of Dutch language use and technical content.
Checking self-written technical documentation
This is currently the most common request. You have written a user manual, technical article or educational material in a field in which you are very well versed, but it just feels good to have its text checked by an external party as an extra quality step. To remove annoying Dutch d/dt errors, but also to dot the i’s and cross the t’s in terms of technical content.
Checking technical texts generated by computer
Since 2022, Large Language Models, with ChatGPT as the most well-known exponent, are booming. Because what could be easier than asking the computer to write a text? This improves productivity, often with very good results. But how do you know if the result is correct? It can be useful to have someone with a critical eye and technical knowledge check the text.
Checking translated technical texts
Nowadays, you can also get very good results with translation programmes and apps if you want to translate a text (from English) into Dutch. But what if ‘very good’ is not good enough, for example if you also want to use the result as business exposure? Then it would be wise to have someone with a solid technical background and a good feel for language look through the translation.
Second opinion
Sometimes it just feels good to have someone with more distance to the subject take a critical look at the text. Does the text effectively communicate what you intended? As an external party, Betase can – in the role of reader and therefore target group or ‘recipient’ of the text – suggest improvements.
In recent years, Betase has carried out the following language checks, among others:
- Checking user manuals for complex technical instruments
- Checking technical documentation including safety instructions for chemical analyses
- Editing technical books
- Checking course material for the electrical engineering sector
- Technical content updates of web texts on gas and liquid flow control
- Checking translations of technical documentation on pumps
