After nine years being involved as member of the board of the Netherlands Society for Materials Science (Bond voor Materialenkennis), Eddy Brinkman handed over the gavel on June 5, 2015. During the council meeting (Bondsraadvergadering), he and Bert van Haastrecht said goodbye to the board. In addition to the remaining board members Amarante Böttger, Erik Schuring and Frans Vos, two managers of stature in the field of materials science will carry the load as of this date: Guido Verhoeven, in everyday life general manager of SIM Flanders, is the new president and Mario van Wingerde, CEO of its Dutch counterpart M2i, is the new tresurer.

From a distance, Eddy Brinkman will stay involved in the Society, as since 2014 he has become president of the Dutch Ceramic Society (Nederlandse Keramische Vereniging), associated to the Society. In that function he participates in the council (Bondsraad).
